Alexa HamptonConnecticut Cottages & Gardens will honor designer Alexa Hampton as the 2012 Innovator Award recipient at the 6th annual Innovation in Design Awards.

Under Alexa’s direction, the world famous firm, Mark Hampton LLC has completed a wide range of designs for domestic and international projects, from New York City to Hangzhou, China, including apartments and large residences, private airplanes and yachts. With her own signature style, Alexa’s work is classic, traditional and eclectic. Her involvement in design goes far past her position as President and featured designer of Mark Hampton LLC; she has been named a trustee for the New York School of Interior Design, was one of the three inaugural designers who launched Gilt Home, Gilt Group’s Home Division, and was the only ever female cast member of “This Old House.” Over the years, Alexa’s work has been featured in many national and regional shelter and design magazines, including Connecticut Cottages & Gardens (see links below).

Having first introduced a line of woven fabrics for Kravet, under the label “Alexa Hampton for the Mark Hampton Signature Collection,” a more comprehensive line of fabrics, “Alexa Hampton Designs,” was launched in 2004, with new introductions in 2006 and 2010. Her collection of trims for Kravet Fabrics launched in 2005 and her own furniture line, “The Alexa Hampton Collection,” was launched by Hickory Chair Co. in 2005.

Alexa is also the author of the book The Language of Interior Design, as well as a contributing columnist for The Wall Street Journal’s Saturday “Off Duty” section.
