FOR THE BIRDS
The first installment of “Audubon’s Aviary: The Complete Flock,” a three-part blockbuster show at the New-York Historical Society, runs March 8–May 19. The series, which ends in 2015, will present 474 watercolors sequentially, in the order in which John James Audubon created them in preparation for his seminal work, The Birds of America. Published in tandem with the exhibition is the beautifully designed, lavishly produced companion volume Audubon’s Aviary: The Original Watercolors for “The Birds of America” (Skira/Rizzoli).
