Corcoran Brokers Tim Davis and Thomas Davis Broke the Mold When It Came to Listing This $5.95 Million Property
With open house attendance at an all-time low, thanks to the volume of information available online, Corcoran brokers Tim Davis and Thomas Davis (no relation) decided to try something a bit different to promote Bay Bluff, their $5.95 million listing of a four-bedroom home at 42 Oceanview Drive in Southampton’s Atterbury Estates. In June, the pair asked Kelli Delaney, founder of the lifestyle website KDHamptons.com and an HC&G contributing editor, to curate a unique experience that would upend the conventional open house. “The old-school approach to promoting properties just isn’t working anymore, and I felt like KDHamptons could make the right connection to the audience I was looking to capture,” Tim Davis says. To wow the crowd of designers, socialites, and top brokers (and, by extension, their high-end friends and clients), Delaney secured beach bonfire gift crates from the Great Blaze, an acrobatic performance by FlyBoard Hamptons on Shinnecock Bay, which fronts the property, and cocktail nibbles and rosé from Janet O’Brien Caterers. She then followed up on the fun with her own blog and Instagram posts. “We ended up with twice as many attendees than anticipated,” Delaney says. “People typically stay at an open house for 20 minutes, tops, but some of our guests hung around for an hour and a half. I think they enjoyed experiencing what it might be like to live there.”
