Look Out, Gayle! For $45M, You Can Live Next Door to Oprah
A 21,345-square-foot mansion next door to a property owned by Oprah Winfrey has hit the market for the second time. The nine-acre Montecito, California estate belonged to the late billionaire Ed Snider and has received a steep price cut from when it was originally listed after his death in 2016.
The 8-bedroom, 13-bath pad first asked $52 million, but was price-chopped to $48.5 million before being taken off the market entirely after no bites. Now, the property has been re-listed at $45 million with The Agency’s founder Mauricio Umansky and partner Santiago Arana.
With the price adjustment and a real estate dream team on the case, the lavish property (which is only a quarter of the size of Oprah's adjacent spread) might finally find a buyer.
According to Mansion Global, Snider bought the property in 1994 and built the opulent home in 2001. No expense was spared to create his haven of complete luxury.
Beyond hoping for a welcome pie from Oprah, new owners can look forward to a 2,000-square-foot master suite with vaulted ceilings that boasts a closet with its own balcony and a spa bathroom. Other deluxe features include a chef's kitchen, home theater, wine cellar, and gym.
Grand rooms with massive windows impress inside while outside, tiered gardens leading to an elegant reflecting pond transport you to Vienna or Versailles. The home offers both ocean and mountain facing terraces as well as a pool, grass tennis court, pavilion, and two-bedroom guesthouse.
