Michael Jackson’s Former Upper East Side Rental Hits the Market for $39M

Michael Jackson’s Former Upper East Side Rental Hits the Market for $39M

An Upper East Side townhouse with a list of famous past residents is asking a staggering $39 million. The owner seeking to unload the posh, six-story mansion is Marc Lasry, a billionaire hedge funder and co-owner of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Michael Jackson rented the 12,745-square-foot abode in 1999 and before that it was home to renowned artist Marc Chagall. Most recently, the home was thrust back into the pop culture spotlight when it was used as Nate Archibald’s house for filming on Gossip Girl. Now, that’s when you know this Manhattan mansion exudes affluence.

According to Curbed, the 1898-built limestone and brick townhouse was designed by architect Alexander Welch in the Beaux-Arts style. It retains one-of-a-kind original elements like a stone carved balcony above the entrance, exquisite stained glass windows, intricate moldings, and an oak staircase. An open and airy bright white kitchen shows how seamlessly modern style can live in the historic structure.

Adam Modlin and Nina Perez of The Modlin Group have the luxury listing located at 4 East 74th Street.
