Judy Garland’s Malibu Beach House Sells to a ‘Wizard of Oz’ Fan for $3.5M
Somewhere over the rainbow, Judy Garland must be smiling knowing that a fan who calls Wizard of Oz a favorite film now owns her former Malibu beach house. The three-bedroom retreat listed with Russell Grether and Tony Mark of Compass in October 2017 for $3.695 million and just sold to Cynthia Harrison-Wallach and her husband Lewis Wallach for a slightly less $3.545 million.
Built in 1947 and extensively renovated in 2013, the home has a modernized, Cape Cod style and is full of luxurious finishes like white oak flooring and marble countertops. The two-sided, see-through fireplace in the main living space is a unique and stylish addition that surely won over the buyers.
The pair will enjoy ocean views from the comfort of almost every space, whether it be the master bedroom or the airy kitchen and living area. Of course, the ultimate way to experience Malibu is by lounging on one of the many sleek terraces.
Honored to live where a Hollywood icon once did, Harrison-Wallach has already used décor to pay tribute to Garland. Pillows that read “There’s no place like home” greet guests to the cozy 1,728-square-foot home, according to Mansion Global.
