Bing Crosby's Legendary Home Near Palm Springs Is Up for Sale
A renaissance man in Old Hollywood, Bing Crosby was a one-of-a-kind talent. He was the first star to excel in all different media areas, making hit records, hosting radio shows, and acting in major motion pictures like Going My Way. With America’s love behind him and plenty of money in the bank, it’s no surprise that Crosby was able to own some spectacular properties, including this California stunner listed for $5 million.
According to Page Six, the house in Rancho Mirage was built specifically for the crooner in 1957. It boasts 5 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms within a 6,700-square-foot floor plan, but that might not be as interesting as hearing about the VIPs who stopped in. Whether it’s fact or fiction may never be determined, but the guest casita is said to have been a place where John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe rendezvoused. That two-bedroom part of the home is now called the JFK wing.
While no other presidents have a wing of Crosby’s estate named after them, many have enjoyed visiting the area, which is close to Palm Springs. Rancho Mirage is even referred to as the ‘Playground of the Presidents’ because of how many of our nation’s leaders have retreated there, including Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, and Barack Obama. Post-presidency, reports claimed that Obama even snagged a home of his own in the heavenly refuge.
To find out what all the fuss is about, you may just have to buy this house, or at the very least jet to Rancho Mirage. If you choose the former, you won’t be disappointed by the 1.36-acre oasis’ outdoor entertaining spaces, stunning mountain views, and sparkling swimming pool. Plus, for renovation junkies, the opportunity to restore and update this legendary property will be oh-so sweet.
This real estate treasure has been on and off the market since 2010, but is now listed with Linda Taglianetti and Fredrik Eklund of Douglas Elliman.
