A Circa-1797 Connecticut Barn-Turned-Home Hits the Market

This Revolutionary War–era Kent property was purchased in 2014 by Pierre Kozely and Dawn Farmer, partners in the Los Angeles–based furniture design firm Pietrarte. When building their now 4,000-square-foot home, the couple paid homage to the spread’s agricultural roots with such barn-like features as its lofty ceilings, wide-plank floorboards, exposed posts and beams, and metal roof topped by a cupola. There’s also a silo housing the master bedroom and bathroom, which includes a lovely soaking tub. And across the 3.6 acres, the grounds offer a private pond, a stone-lined pool, a pergola and an orchard.

It is listed for $1.295 million with Ira Goldspiel and Howard Schissler, both of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty.
