An Architect's Farmhouse Chic Connecticut Home Wants $3M

Architectural designer Harold Tittmann is selling his own home in Morris. Raised in Brussels, Belgium, Tittmann trained at the Rhode Island School of Design and made a name for himself reinventing New England’s vernacular architecture. “I appreciate the simplicity and clean lines of traditional Connecticut farmhouses,” Tittmann told CTC&G in a 2016 interview about bringing energy efficiencies to antique homes. “Finding the right balance where it all fits into the vernacular of the area is important to hold on to.”

While Tittmann built his Morris home from scratch in 2006, the façade pays homage to the classic Connecticut farmhouse with its mix of white shingles, rustic shiplap and barn-like styling. But the 5,000-square-foot interiors have a modern heart, featuring a dramatic double-story dining room with a fireplace, an eat-in kitchen with a butler’s pantry and another fireplace, a theater with a movie screen, and a wine cellar. The nearly 20-acre grounds are also swell, especially around the saltwater pool and pool terrace. It's listed for $2.995 million with Peter Klemm of Klemm Real Estate.
