CTC&G Sponsors the 23rd Annual HOBI Awards
About the Home Builders & Remodelers Association's 23rd Annual HOBI Awards
On Wednesday, November 16, the winners of the 2016 HOBI Awards—the largest and most successful builder awards program in the country—were honored. Sponsored by the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Connecticut (HBACT), an affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the HOBI Awards is Connecticut’s most prestigious recognition of excellence in home construction, home technology, sales and marketing, home financing and community service. The highlight of the evening was a Power Point presentation of the winning homes and communities, followed by the announcement of Custom Home of the Year, Spec Home of the Year, Remodeled Home of the Year and Community of the Year.
Each year, several hundred entries are divided into categories based on the size of custom homes and the price of spec and remodeled homes entered. Additional categories recognize new home communities, production homes and 55+ housing.
Winners are selected by a panel of judges, who are industry leaders with years of experience in residential construction, remodeling and design. After reviewing all entries, new construction HOBI judges travel the state for several days, touring the chosen homes and interviewing entrants. This unique practice is enthusiastically anticipated by builder entrants, and has proven invaluable in determining top award winners.
HOBI Awards producer, Joanne Carroll, summed up the appeal of the HOBI program. “In a small state like Connecticut, homebuilders produce an amazing variety of housing, from affordable single family homes and rental units to multi-million dollar estate homes. What’s great about this event is that it recognizes builders from all over the state and in all price ranges – ranging from a $7 million custom home in down county Greenwich to a $250,000 condominium in Hartford County.”
Entrants must be members of the state HBRA thru membership in one of the following:
Fairfield County HBRA, HBRA of Central CT, HBA of Northwest CT or Builders Association of Eastern CT. Architects may enter with a builder member.
